Very pleasant survival sesh at Hove. Made the call for 5m sail and made it off the beach and out the back first go. a little light on the inside and a lot of white water moving around. The further out you got, the bigger the waves got. Certainly logo high out there and I can only say they seemed bigger on the peak of the big sets. I was smote down after top turning half way up the face of one monstrous swell. Managed to keep fingers on the back of the boom for a bit of impromtu waterskiing. It was big enough to really churn up the water and pull your sail down to the sea bed when you fell in. Felt like a huge rip running downwind, but probably just heavy water movements. Wind was cross shore with enough off to get plumes off the backs of the waves. You could ride 'em way out back, again in the middle and more on the inside. Although I didnt bother coming back inside at all, just stayed out with the wind. I launched at 10ish in brilliant sunshine and walked miles back upwind at about 11:30. The wind eased down a bit and the swell was reducing, but still there were huge sets breaking waaaay out beyond where I was, then reforming for a second or third peak.
